CCTV Pilot Project for A&E Departments

Following the report and recommendation of the Ministerial Taskforce on Violence and Aggression in NHS (Wales) the Health Minister approved the setting up of a Project Board to oversee the procurement and installation of CCTV and recording equipment at four pilot sites in Wales. As part of this project, Welsh Health Supplies has undertaken a tender exercise to install recording equipment in both General and Treatment areas in the pilot sites and work is now scheduled to commence in October 2009 with completion planned for early December. This project has proved challenging to all concerned as it is the first of its kind in the UK to place such equipment in A&E treatment areas and the pilot (which is due to run for twelve months) is being keenly watched by Health Authorities across the country.
