Guidance on out of date PP3 masks from 3M

We have had a number of enquiries from Trusts regarding the potential to extend the expiry date of the PP3 masks. SMTL have been in dialogue with 3M around this issue and the following should be noted:-

1. If you have respirator masks in a Trust which have a 3 year expiry

date, you can usually get an extension by someone from the Trust

2. You will need to tell her:

- what the product is - i.e., the cat number

- how it has been stored

3. If the storage requirements have been met, then they will issue you with a letter extending the expiry date for 2 years.

4. Note: the storage requirements are:

- stored in their original packaging

- stored between -20 and 20 deg C

- stored dry, not exceeding 80% RH

- not stored in direct sunlight
